Since 2008, the Polish Music Association has been presenting the Gold Muse prize every two years. The Gold Muse statuettes, which are made by Kraków sculptor Marek Stankiewicz, are awarded for distinguished contribution to the promotion of Polish music around the world. The next, 5th edition of the award ceremony will take place during the 12th Festival of Polish Music in July of 2016.

For the first time, the prize was awarded on 16 November 2008 after the final concert of the 4th Festival of Polish Music. At the time, this distinction was received by Prof. Ewa Michnik for her promotion of Polish opera music in Poland and abroad and consortium EMI MUSIC.

During the 6th Festival of Polish Music, on 8 November 2010, the Gold Muse statuette was received by musicologist Teresa Chylińska for her exceptional contribution and devotion to research into the life and œuvre of Karol Szymanowski.

Podczas 12. edycji Festiwalu Muzyki Polskiej, w dniu 10 lipca 2016 roku, piątą statuetkę Złotej Muzy otrzymała Joanna Wnuk-Nazarowa. Wyróżnienie zostało przyznane za całokształt pracy twórczej na polu kultury. W tym za ogromny wkład w rozwój polskiej kultury muzycznej, za zaangażowanie i docenienie śmiałych, ciekawych inicjatyw artystycznych.
